One of our local RYI students, a wonderfully dedicated young woman, suffered heavy loss during the recent earthquake in Nepal. First she lost her sister (who was killed during the earthquake). As you can imagine, she was absolutely heart-broken. Next she heard that her village, Mandapur, was heavily hit, some houses were ruined, and villagers were sleeping under trees. To add suffering upon suffering, her father had also gotten very sick. When we heard that she was going up there, we gave her money to help provide food and some tarps to use for shelter. Our provisions were the first to arrive and helped the villagers immensely. “You are sent by God,” one villager said. We are glad to hear that finally government help has begun to arrive too.
